Natasha Barrett

Natasha Barrett’s output spans electroacoustic and instrumental composition, sound installations, and collaborations with artists, architects, performers and scientists.

Her approach to composition stems from sound and sonic imagery, combined with a high competence in music technology and 3D spatial audio.

She is invited worldwide to present concerts and master classes, has created sizeable public sound-art installations and is regularly commission at home and abroad. Her works have received a long list of prizes, including the prestigious Nordic Council Music Prize (Nordic).

Barrett studied in England with Jonty Harrison and Denis Smalley for masters and doctoral degrees in composition. Both degrees were funded by the humanities section of the British Academy. Since 1999 she has lived and worked in Norway.
